History According to Genesis — It’s Not What You Think

In 1650 AD, Archbishop Ussher of Ireland published his most famous work which gave us a timeline for man and the cosmos. The stunning scholarship of Ussher is valid even today for many of the historical events we learn about in school — like the dates for the assassination of Julius Caesar and the death of Alexander the Great. As we know today, though, his dates based on Genesis are all wrong.

A new study takes the Bible as gospel, but finds a timeline compatible with those of science. But to make this most holy work “fit” with secular ideas, isn’t this sacrilege? Not really. Let me explain. God made reality — the universe and everything in it. For the most part, scientists have done a very good job of keeping their work honest and a true representation of nature (the reality of the universe). We have light bulbs, automobiles, airplanes, nuclear bombs, hydroelectric plants, rockets to the Moon, Mars and beyond, and much more, all depending on the work of those scientists. All of these modern marvels work because scientists got their ideas straight about reality. With so much of technology that works, scientists have proven themselves for the most part.
